Operating Rental

Our Operating Rental is structured as an off balance sheet transaction, in which EFM takes full risk in terms of the residual value of the vehicle at the end of the lease period. This solution is designed for companies who need vehicles to operate their business but don’t want to place an unnecessary burden on their asset base.

  • Customers only pay for the use of the vehicle and not ownership;
  • The customer would elect both the term (period) of the lease and the expected utilization (kilometers to be travelled);
  • The customer elects to retain responsibility of services, maintenance and tyres and purely uses our finance to reduce costs and free up cash;
  • EFM is responsible for the redirection of fines and license disks, in line with AARTO requirements to the driver of the vehicle.

Customers choose the rental term and the expected vehicle usage (km’s travelled), and receive a binding quote based on these values. Standard quotation terms include:

  • Cost of roadside assistance
  • A monthly administration fee
  • An annual vehicle licensing fee (which remains our responsibility)
  • And an administration fee for fines incurred by the vehicle

Full Maintenance Rental

Our Full Maintenance Rental is also an off balance sheet transaction, identical to the operating rental but with a fixed maintenance plan. Customers can outsource the finance, maintenance risk and costs of their fleet, ensuring a fixed expenditure for efficient budget control.

Our extensive network of service centers and dealerships decrease our costs of purchase, maintenance and re-sale of vehicles. The cost savings resulting from these supply chain processes are for our customers benefit.

Managed Maintenance

Managed maintenance enables our customers to retain the maintenance risk, but utilizes our maintenance department to control and minimize vehicle maintenance costs. A small monthly administrative fee ensures that customers attain the same level of cost control protection that EFM employs to manage our fleet. We pre-authorize all maintenance costs; customers receive monthly consolidated invoices and can access real-time online and business intelligence (BI) reporting tools. Our streamlined processes and online support tools ensure that vehicle and fleet maintenance risks are monitored, managed and can be budgeted for.

License and Fines administration

Licence Administration: Customers, who retain ownership of their fleet, can utilize our comprehensive and automated license administration service. Our automated licensing system flags, orders and delivers new license disks to our customers for a small administrative fee. This service saves time, administration and costs for customers’ fleets with varying license renewal dates.

Fines Administration: With AARTO becoming a reality, effective fines management is a growing requirement for a wide range of our customers. If a customer elects to retain ownership of their fleet, EFM offers a fines management solution that reduces time and effort. The proxy address for the customer would be changed to EFM’s and all fines would come directly to our offices for processing. EFM has invested in an Optimal Character Recognition (OCR) software, which enables us to capture the traffic violation fee details automatically and carry out the entire fines redirection process based on customer specific rules.

Maintenance Plans

Customers may elect to own the vehicle but transfer the maintenance risk onto EFM to manage. In this instance the maintenance plan would be standalone but would operate exactly the same as the maintenance element on a full maintenance rental. This solution is for companies that are cash-rich or need to increase their asset base, yet don’t want to manage the maintenance element of their fleet.

Fuel Management

Extensive fluctuation and increases in fuel costs equate to approximately 42% of your total fleet costs, making this expense very difficult for companies to manage. Eqstra Fuel Cards, accepted at all accredited forecourts, can be issued to our customers’ employees to facilitate payment and capture of fuel, oil and toll related expenses. For customers with small, medium and large fleets this fuel management service consolidates, automates and integrates fuel costs into one consolidated invoice per month on an actual cost incurred basis and allows the customer to pro-actively manage costs and potential fraud by means of exception reporting.

In addition, due to our scale and buying power customers who utilise the service automatically qualify for diesel rebates at certain accredited dealerships, resulting in lower cost
